Graybar Honolulu Upgrades Warehouse and Office Lighting

Graybar Honolulu, Hawaii, is one of Graybar’s more than 260 North American distribution facilities.

When Graybar Honolulu relocated its existing operation into a new, 52,690 square-foot facility, it was no surprise lighting upgrades were needed. The building’s existing metal halide lights were inadequate and would not work with the warehouse’s racking system. Plus, high energy-costs on the Big Island meant energy efficient lighting was a must.

Looking to reduce the amount of energy consumed and accommodate the racking system, Honolulu decided to upgrade to LEDs.

For the warehouse, a combination of 18,000 Lumen and 24,000 Lumen Lithonia IBL Series LED High Bay fixtures with wireless nLight controls were installed. The office installation included Acuity’s nLight wired system and replacing the existing 85-watt fixtures with 37-watt fixtures. To save even more energy, field-adjustable maximum light levels were also reduced.

Thanks to the upgrades, Graybar Honolulu expects to save an estimated $12,000 annually, an energy savings of approximately 37,000 kWh. The expected net payback of the lighting upgrade is 2.34 years.

In addition to the energy cost savings, Graybar is also benefitting from local utility rebates.
