Modern Motor Control Center Promotes Safety

Low-Voltage Motor Control Center (MCC) Upgrades
Modernization solutions are also available for existing Motor Control Center units, when the structure is still in good condition but newer technology is desired. Direct replacement motor control center units are available for many common vintage and current style MCCs, such as Allen Bradley, Square D Model 4, ITE, Westinghouse and Cutler Hammer. Replacement retrofit units are an option when a direct replacement design is not available.
With the direct replacement unit, there are several upgrades available such as:
  • Solid-state overload (Motor Logic™ or TeSys™ T)
  • Circuit breaker or fusible disconnect
  • 22 mm or 30 mm pilot devices (mounted on door)

Upgrade to an intelligent MCC by specifying the TeSys T motor management system in your replacement units. The digital display can be mounted on the door to minimize the need for opening/closing for employee risk mitigation. Maintenance of the unit can be scheduled on an as needed basis in compliance with NFPA 70E.

Extending the Life of Switchgear White Paper

The most obvious benefit of upgrading existing electrical switchgear is the significant savings on costs that would have been dedicated to buying new equipment — and not just the physical equipment, but the time and labor involved in specification, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning. A direct replacement or retrofill solution is a viable, cost-effective alternative to purchasing new equipment. In addition, the upgrade can be performed without major downtime and possible loss of production.
