Is Your Data Center Running Out Of Room?

A 2012 Uptime Institute survey of 1,100 data center owners and operators found that 30 percent of respondents say they will run out of data center capacity at one of their sites this year. And the majority of those said they will maintain their sites by consolidating servers and upgrading their facilities' infrastructure.

According to Vice President of Leviton's Data Center Design Group, Maurice Zetena, Leviton has seen a trend toward increasing the density of the data center. Instead of moving to larger facilities, many data centers are consolidating and improving infrastructure for efficiency and higher density.

“This is reflected by new views on floor space usage, rack design and deployment, and full utilization of active equipment resources,” said Zetena. “Concepts such as virtualization, specialized cooling/heat containment strategies, and power have all combined to allow for increased data center equipment density from a square footage perspective.”

To support these applications, Graybar and Leviton offer a selection of high-density connectivity and high-capacity cable management solutions to help your data center grow when space and budget are tight.
