Graybar Named to Sixth Consecutive InformationWeek 500

Company continues to leverage technology to improve business results

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 6, 2008 - Graybar, one of the nation's leading distributors of electrical, telecommunications and networking products and related supply chain management and logistics services, has announced that for the sixth consecutive year it has been named to the InformationWeek 500.

This prestigious listing includes the most innovative users of information technology in the United States. Now in its 20th year, the InformationWeek 500 is unique among corporate rankings because it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.

The recognition from InformationWeek comes as Graybar continues to leverage technology to improve processes and efficiency in the distribution industry. In 2007, Graybar achieved record business results in part through the utilization of its $100 million SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. For the year, the company posted record sales of $5.25 billion, a 5 percent increase over 2006, and net income of more than $83 million, up 45 percent from 2006.

"In these difficult economic times, we must leverage our investment in technology to reduce costs and enhance customer service," said Robert A. Reynolds Jr., chairman, president and CEO, Graybar. "Combined with our solid business results, the recognition from InformationWeek shows how our technology investments drive increased value for our customers, suppliers and shareholders."

The InformationWeek 500 recognition is one of several honors Graybar has recently received. Others include:

  • On the Fortune America's Most Admired Companies list for the seventh consecutive year (2008)
  • #1 in the Wholesalers: Diversified industry category of the Fortune America's Most Admired Companies list for the second consecutive year (2008)
