Legislation such as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA 2007) and the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct 2005) mandate federal facilities to meet specific energy goals and regulatory requirements. In addition ASHRAE/IES 90.1-2010 requires:

  • Automatic multilevel lighting in certain stairwell, parking garage and other spaces

  • Power credits providing additional lighting power allowances as an incentive for using advanced control strategies
  • Functional testing of controls
  • Documentation requirements including a control narrative and maintenance schedule
